video: DIDDY WAS BORN FOR HSN

Last night at 11 p.m., Diddy made a poetic debut on the Home Shopping Network to sell his fragrances. A lady with Kate Gosselin hair and eye shadow so blue you'd think she colored her face with a highlighter sat on a couch with Diddy for a couple of hours to tell him and 'His People' how wonderful he and the things he makes are. A very excited ladycalled in and told Diddy, who was perched on a shaggy fur throw, that she had been waiting for this moment. "I wanted to put on your MySpace page please come to HSN!" she told him. And it's a good thing he did, because not only is HSN now cool, officially, but his stuff sold out in just sixteen minutes. That's a total of 5,600 Diddy fragrance products, costing around $60 each, with extra flex-pricing available for HSN cardholders. (It's the flex-pricing that really gives this channel it's swagger, lol.)

DIDDY IS GOING ON HSN!

On November 30, beginning at the ripe hour of 11 p.m., the Home Shopping Network will be forever changed when Diddy hits the airwaves. Diddy will show his Unforgivable and I Am King fragrances with the reported goal of selling $400,000 worth of merchandise, and showing the world fragrances can be sold on TV — or, at least, that if anyone can convince the public to buy scents they can't smell, Diddy can.

YOU COULD BE THE NEW FACE OF SEAN JOHN

Tomorrow Diddy kicks off the Faces of the Future contest in which one lucky winner will star in Sean John’s fall ad campaign. The search will be unveiled in a grandiose multi-platform launch on seanjohn.com, Twitter, Diddytv, and other blogs - as only Diddy could.

Enter by uploading your photo to the Sean John site between tomorrow and April 29. The general public can log on to vote and comment on potential models, which sounds like either the setup for a lot of hurt feelings, or a great way for entrants to get the cheap thrills they once got on MySpace. The ten entrants with the most votes will meet with Sean John executives during the first week of May. A winner will be announced May 8.

WHAT KIND OF F*CKERY IS THIS | CASSIE SHAVES HER HEAD

Cassie shaved half of her head, posting images of the new look on her Twitter account. The singer writes: Sometimes in life, you need a change. Something deeper than what you thought you were...

And Diddy said, “YEAH YOU DID DO IT, I LOVE IT. DARE TO BE DIFFERENT”

Without mentioning the inside out skull crewneck, Cartier bracelet, the watch, the ring, I can't help but think this a publicity stunt. I mean Diddy IS the monster of marketing fluff. Somehow, somewhere, someone sat down and plotted this thing out Look out for the Dare To Be Different Ad Campaign coming soon!! LOL

SOME THINGS NEVER CHANGE

Sean "Diddy" Combs was supposed to co-host a birthday party for DJ Clue at Club M2 in NYC Monday night with Kobe Bryant after the historic Knicks/Lakers game in which Bryant scored 61 points. But nobody warned Combs that the NYPD had an undercover gun detail searching guests as they came into the club. “Everyone wanted to make sure that the dozens of NBA stars in attendance, including Lamar Odom, Vince Carter and Pau Gasol, would be safe,” the insider said. When Diddy arrived at 1:45 a.m. with a six-man entourage, a witness said he “flipped out” when cops asked to search him and his friends. “He went nuts, saying, ‘Why are you disrespecting me like this? Why are you doing this to me?’ During the commotion, one of his guys slipped away, unsearched, back to the car.” Combs “stormed off and started to text DJ Clue asking, ‘What the [bleep] is going on?’ and asked if he could go in the back entrance.” When told that the cops would have to search him and his friends there as well, Combs decided not to attend the party. His rep had no comment. Combs has had issues in the past with hidden weapons and cops. You may recall back in 1999, while he was dating Jennifer Lopez, a member of his entourage opened fire in a nightclub. A stolen pistol was found in one of Combs’ SUVs, but he was acquitted of gun-possession charges. Suspect?

EX BAD BOY ARTIST, MARK CURRY WRITES TELL-ALL ABOUT DIDDY

2009 seems to be on its way to being the year of the tell-all book. Former Bad Boy rapper Mark Curry has written a juicy book called "Dancing with the Devil," chronicling his life as a "Bad Boy" - where in which he admits it is not just a record label, but a bad omen, as well.

The book offers a look into the "fast paced, controversial, and sometimes deadly world of hip-hop music" and comes with "Dishin it Out," a compilation CD of tracks from former Bad Boy artists. Here's an excerpt:

"Puff has an annoying habit of inserting himself into songs and videos of all the artists on his label and it was common knowledge that many Bad Boy acts resented him for this. Puffy charged the artists for his appearances on their records and in the videos, usually without their realizing it until they received their royalty statements. That's when they discovered that a large sum of their money had gone to fees which were doubled, tripled and even quadrupled because Puff 'special appearances.' He charged artists, for example, for having his Bentley in their videos - which he insisted upon - then took a tax credit for business use of the car"

NO DEAL FOR DIDDY

Diddy is making headlines just before the year ends. He teamed up with Ciroc Vodka to make a offer to the city of New York to remake the Times Square New Year’s ball - turning it 'Ciroc Blue '- and was willing to donate $1 million to charity if the proposal had been approved. Well after all the publicity he began to set forth, the city shot him down. NO DEAL!

IF EVER THERE WAS A DIDDY BIOPIC, DIDDY WOULD LIKE DEREK LUKE TO PLAY HIM AGAIN

Most rappers like to say their life is like a movie, but with the Biggie movie “Notorious” hitting theaters next month, Diddy is already talking about a biopic on himself.

“Everybody always asked me who I wanted to play me if anyone ever played me, and I said Derek Luke,” Diddy said recently while on the set of “CSI: Miami,” on which he’ll be making an appearance soon.

He went on to say that he would want Derek Luke to continue his role as "Sean Combs" should a Diddy biopic ever be made.

Diddy said he's a longtime fan of Luke's work, citing his roles in "Friday Night Lights" and "Antwone Fisher."

"His ferociousness," he said is Luke's prime attribute. "I felt like he could really represent me well."

While Diddy hasn't quite confirmed that he's interested in a movie being made on his life, he hasn't put the idea to bed either. Luke, on the other hand, has been said in interviews for the film to be a green light.

"I would love to play Puff from scratch," he said. "I would love to play him from start to finish.

SNEAK PEEK | DIDDY'S I AM KING FRAGRANCE AD

With the launch of his newest men’s fragrance, I AM King on the horizon, Sean “Diddy” Combs is utilizing president-elect Barack Obama to promote the scent, in an effort to redefine the perception of African Americans.
The ad will be featured in magazines and on billboards across the country beginning in December.
Although the ads may come across as being out of touch with the current economy, Combs maintains that the promotion is reflective of what he labeled as an “affordable indulgence.”

“Everything on the market isn’t going to be attached to the bad economy,” he said. With Obama’s historic victory over Republican rival John McCain, Combs believes the time is now for marketers to shift their perception of the urban black male from the stereotypical person with lots of “bling,” to one of successful black men such as himself and Obama.
I am King follows Combs’ previous fragrance Unforgiveable.

The scent, which debuted in 2006, has gone on to join the mogul’s Sean Jean clothing line as a popular brand among consumers.

Priced at $57, the I am King fragrance will be sold exclusively at Macy's, just in time for the holidays.

SEAN JOHN ACQUIRES ENYCE

Sean “Diddy” Combs and Liz Claiborne Inc. announce late yesterday the purchase of fashion label ENYCE by Sean “Diddy” Combs. Founded in 1996, Enyce is a denim based sportswear brand offering knits, wovens, outerwear, and graphic tees for men and boys, as well as a successful “Big and Tall” and women’s line. Liz Claiborne purchased Enyce in 2003. Both companies will work together to ensure a smooth and orderly transition for retail partners, vendors and employees. Founder and CEO of Sean John, Sean “Diddy” Combs said, “Enyce is a brand that I have always admired, and they have been a very important player in the young men’s sportswear arena for over a decade. I am really excited to bring it into our portfolio of brands that already includes Sean John and Zac Posen. Given our track record of success in marketing products such as Ciroc Vodka, Unforgivable by Sean John, and all of our television titles, I look forward to adding our expertise to an already hot fashion line. Our long-term plan is to grow the Enyce brand through innovative marketing, expansion of the menswear and boy’s lines, and launching into new licensing categories. The current economic climate may be challenging, but we believe it is also an opportunity, and we are really excited to add Enyce to our lineup.

'MAKING THE BAND 4' PREMIERE PARTY

Last night, MTV’s “Making the Band 4″ Premiere Party took place at Guest House in New York City, NY. Above is a picture of party host Laurie Ann ' Boom Kat' Gibson, Dawn of Danity Kane and Teyana Taylor.

By the way, last night premiere of Making the Band 4 was a waste of everyone’s time! If Laurie Ann was not back on the show I think no one would have any interest in watching it! PERIOD!

P.S. I am starting to wonder if Teyana has transformed into a socialite because all she does is attend party after party after party and yet no music.

No, your eyes are not deceiving you... That is DEFINITELY Jon B. What a throwback.

It's been some year for Jay-Z. While Jay-Z topped Forbes.com's inaugural Hip-Hop Cash Kings list of the top-earning people in the business last year, in '08 he is dethroned by 50 Cent, who raked in $150 million over the past 12 months - almost twice what Jay made.

DIDDY BRINGS MAGIC TO THE CITY

Diddy debuted A/Winter collection for Sean John last night at the line's showroom. Naturally, it was a star studded occassion boasting guests such as designer Zac Posen, singer Cassie and models Lamar James, the green-eyed Darrell Walden, Marcus Lloyd and Sallieu Jalloh.
