wise move: DIDDY KNOWS BETTER THAN TO CROSS ANNA WINTOUR

Apparently Sean "Diddy" Combs turned down the role of fashion designer James Holt in The Devil Wears Prada. Especially after being named CFDA Menswear Designer of the Year in 2004, he knew better than to take a part in a movie parodying Anna Wintour. "It wasn’t like they were portraying her in a bad way," he explains. "It was just that I knew what was in the script and what she’s like in real life were different. She’s bricked one or two of my collections, but she’s also called 15 minutes later with some helpful advice about who I should get to fix it.” [BlackBook]

HAS RIHANNA BLOWN HER CHANCE AT A VOGUE COVER?

Rihanna made a splashy return to the spotlight and stage at Anna Wintour's Met gala at the beginning of May, in a rather strange, strong-shouldered tuxedo. A Vogue cover seemed guaranteed after the editor and singer were spotted getting all buddy-buddy at a Met-gala after-party at Monkey Bar. Fitting since she has emerged from such a dark place as an independent woman. But the Insider is reporting that Rihanna is no longer in the running for a cover, after what appear to be nude photos of the singer leaked to the Internet. A source says Anna won't take Rihanna's calls anymore. Hmm

ANNA WINTOUR LOVES THAT DRESS

Ok, so we no she's not short on her clothing allowance - but Anna Wintour has been photagraphed on three seperate occassions, in just two weeks, wearing the same floral print Carolina Herrera shift dress from the resort collection. First she wore it to the Salvatore Ferragamo show in Milan, she wore it to Wimbledon, and yesterday at the Chanel couture show. Maybe she just likes to pack light.

This doesn't come as a surprise. We have seen her do this before. Last season, she was photographed in the same Prada dress three times. Whatever her reasoning, we dare not question... The cardinal rule- if Anna does it, it's a fashion "do."

Milan Men's Fashion Week

The men's shows are under way in Milan, and we've already seen some pretty memorable things so far. The front row lined with celebs, Naomi Campbell walking in Dolce & Gabbana's lounge-inspired show, and man dresses by Prada, anyone?

We got a posh pastel moment at Versace, when the label staged their spring 2009 men's collection before an eclectic audience including Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri, Allegra Versace, Anna Wintour and Tom Ford, in the midst of campaign to re-establish himself as a major Milan player.

Donatella Versace dedicated the collection to Barack Obama. Calling him the "man of the moment" and said that it was for "a relaxed man who doesn't need to flex muscles to show he has power."

Pharrell Covers Paper Mag

His personal style, fashionophilia, and entended influence from music into the world of fashion garnered the attention of Anna Wintour who, ironically enough, is one of his favorite people. In the cover story of Paper Magazines upcoming music issue Pharrell Williams calls the Vogue editrix, a "genius" and defends the controversial LeBron James/Gisele Bundchen cover shoot which many have described as a "racist" depiction that potrays the NBA star as King Kong. Check out pics from the shoot below.
