MICHELLE OBAMA COVERS O MAGAZINE

First Lady Michelle Obama joins daytime diva Oprah Winfrey on the April 2009 cover of O magazine.

Say what you will about books-people do judge a magazine by its cover, which is why it’s important to me to keep the cover of this one looking fresh,” says Oprah. “And right now nothing – and I mean nothing – is fresher than the family that moved into the White House in January, sparking a national spirit of renewal the likes of which I’ve never seen.”

MICHELLE OBAMA COVERS VOGUE

Michelle Obama looks fabulous as she graces of the cover of next month’s Vogue in a Jason Wu dress.

“It’s a wonderful achievement for Vogue,” said editor at large Andre Leon Talley, who interviewed Obama for an hour at the Hay-Adams hotel a few weeks before the inauguration. Obama’s cover portrait, said Talley “absolutely reflects who she is without any questions. There’s such a warmth that she emanates. It’s the warmest cover you’ve seen in a long time on Vogue. Models pose, actresses pose. This is a real woman.”

Beautiful cover. Obama is the 2nd first lady - after Hilary Clinton - to grace the cover of the magazine.

FIRST DANCE...

Beyonce attended the Neighbors' Inauguration Ball where she serenaded the first Couple with Etta James' At Last as they shared their first dance.

WHAT SHE WORE | FIRST LADY EDITION

After several months of speculation as to what she would wear on Inauguration Day, First Lady Michelle Obama stepped out looking as chic as expected.

She wowed us all as she stepped out in a custom dress and coat by Cuban-American designer Isabel Toledo, accessorized with a pair of teal Jimmy Choo "Glacier" pumps.

As for the ten Inaugural Balls she attended yesterday evening, Mrs. Obama selected a beautiful silk chiffon one-shoulder ivory gown by Jason Wu .

HISTORY YOU'RE OURS!!!!

The moment it seems we've all been waiting for finally went down on yesterday. President Barack Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States of America as his wife, Michelle Obama, and daughters, Malia and Sasha, looked on.

Placing his hand on the Bible once used by Abraham Lincoln, Obama took the Oath of Office at 12:05 p.m. on the steps of the U.S. Capitol. Immediately following, he delivered
his Inaugural Address to a sea of flag-waving Americans stretching down the National Mall to the Lincoln Memorial and beyond.

MICHELLE OBAMA IN THAKOON

While other first ladies and political women often sport the likes of Oscar de la Renta and Carolina Herrera, Michelle Obama has taken to the rising stars. She rocked a printed Thakoon dress along with three Erickson Beamon broaches the night her husband delivered his nomination acceptance speech.

It's a big coup for Thakoon Panchigul, who was recently approved for membership in the CFDA.

"I am incredibly honored that Michelle Obama chose to wear a dress from my collection on such a historical night for her, her family and this country," the designer said.

According to WWD, Tom Ford is co-hosting a fund-raiser for Barack Obama in L.A. at which, much like the Calvin Klein/Vogue fundraiser, Michelle Obama will rub elbows with fashion- and entertainment-industry types.

And while we're on the subject, today is the uber-chic designer's birthday. Who knew 47 could look this good.

MICHELLE OBAMA'S DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL CONVENTION SPEECH

Michelle Obama declared "I love this country" Monday as she sought to reassure the nation that she and her husband Barack share Americans' bedrock values and belief in a dream of a better future. She was amazing! Incredibly poised and very eloquently spoken. Best of all, she blew that whole "elitist" garbage right out of the water! So let's contrast this down to earth woman with the wife of her husband's opponent. Yeah, good luck with that.

INSIDE THE ISSUE:

On her style…“I do think what you wear is a reflection of who you are. I love to look glamorous when there’s a wonderful, purposeful event that is appropriate. But when I’m in Iowa campaigning with the girls, I am in Gap shorts and a T-shirt.”

TYRA BANKS AS MICHELLE OBAMA IN THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE OF HARPER'S BAZAAR

As was previously rumored, Tyra Banks does indeed have the September 2008 Fashion Edition of Harper's Bazaar. In the issue Tyra pays homage to Michelle Obama - clad in a black shift dress and pearls, she poses next to a Barack Obama look-a-like in the White House. Bazaar casts her as First Lady while she reflects on being a model citizen and the politics of fashion. Maybe I spoke too soon, look at the trend Vogue Italia has set: first POP, now Bazaar. KANYE WEST AND MICHELLE OBAMA MAKE THE 'VANITY FAIR' BEST-DRESSED LIST

Each year the highlight of Vanity Fair's September issue is its International Best Dressed list, and we have an advance copy of the full rankings!

Michelle Obama - the brains behind the Barack Obama campaign machine — is always impeccably dressed and elegantly appointed whenever she steps on the scene. (Remember the Maria Pinto purple dress and black Azzedine AlaĂ¯a belt she wore the night Barack claimed the nomination or the chic Isabela Toledo gown and Tom Binns necklace, which she picked out herself, at the Vogue magazine fundraiser, pictured above.) It comes as no surprise that she tops Vanity Fair’s Best-Dressed List for 2008 - a major feat for a non-celebrity. VFair calls her ur "commander-in-sheath.”

Also making the style cut are Brad and Angelina, Kanye West, and David Beckham.

Here are some highlights from the interview:

- Malia and Sasha get allowances of $1 a week for doing their chores — but dad often falls behind in paying them

- The girls have rules to follow such as making their beds, setting their own alarm clocks, keeping the playroom toy closet clean and lights out at 8:30 p.m.

- Obama on the girls’ feelings regarding his candidacy: “They have a wonderful life in Chicago. So I’m sure there’s a part of them that won’t be heartbroken if things don’t work out.”

OBAMA MAGAZINE CONTROVERSY

Barack Obama's campaign is condemning as “tasteless and offensive” a New Yorker magazine cover that depicts Obama in a turban, fist-bumping his gun-slinging wife.

An American flag burns in their fireplace.

The New Yorker says it's the cover is meant to satirize the use of scare tactics and misinformation in the presidential election to derail Obama. I say that it is a crude, ignorant and racist perpetuation of stereotypes that was built to create danger for Obama.

The Obama campaign quickly condemned the rendering. Spokesman Bill Burton said in a statement:

“The New Yorker may think, as one of their staff explained to us, that their cover is a satirical lampoon of the caricature Sen. Obama's right-wing critics have tried to create. But most readers will see it as tasteless and offensive. And we agree."

The issue, which goes on sale Monday, includes a long piece by Ryan Lizza about Obama’s start in Chicago politics.
