Dream Finals: Celtics v. Lakers

Twenty-one years later, they meet again.

The Celtics nodded in destiny's direction last night, defeating the Pistons and bringing together two of the most relevant sports franchises for the NBA Finals.

It will be intriguing, packed with celebrities and matched only by an expected meteoric rise in TV ratings.

Somewhere Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bill Russell, and James Worthy are smiling.

Celtics-Lakers, play it again, for an 11th time in Finals history, as Phil Jackson tries to pass Red Auerbach by winning a record-setting 10th NBA championship as a coach.

The series begins with game 1 in Boston on Thursday.

Under Armour to Fresco Daily: "Al Reynolds is not Spokesperson"

I was contacted this afternoon via email, by a rep from Under Armour's PR agency to clarify what we reported yesterday, in regards to Al Reynolds (Star Jones' soon-to-be, ex-husband) being the new face of Under Armour. Company spokesman, Tai Foster writes:

"Al Reynolds is not a spokesperson for Under Armou nor is there
any business relationship of any kind between the Under Armour brand and Al
Reynolds. That is not the image that the brand is pursuing."

'Suspicious' Fire Burns Down 50 Cent's L.I. Home

50 CENT's ex-girlfriend and 10-year-old son have been rescued from a burning house in New York. The fire at the house - owned by 50 Cent and occupied by his former lover Shaniqua Tompkins and their son Marquise - broke out at 5am this morning (May 30, 08) . An off-duty officer in Dix Hills, Long Island was on hand to rescue four other victims. They were taken to hospital and treated for smoke inhalation. Authorities believe the cause of the inferno is "highly suspicious" and have sent sniffer dogs to search the rubble for a substance that may have been used as an igniter. 50, however is not being treated as a suspect, reports TMZ.com. Despite the his bitter dispute with Tomkins over the home.. Last month, a judge ruled that Tompkins and Marquise must leave the hip-hop star's mansion by the end of 2008.The couple split in 2003.

Lupe Fiasco's chart-topping second album, THE COOL," from 1st & 15th/Atlantic Records, has been certified gold by the RIAA for sales exceeding 500,000. The critically acclaimed album -- which features the hit singles, "Superstar (Feat. Matthew Santos)" and "Hip-Hop Saved My Life (Feat. Nikki Jean)" -- debuted on Billboard's "Top Rap Albums" chart at #1 upon its December 2007 release, and remained in the peak position for nine weeks.

T.I. Shooting a Reality Show for MTV

T.I. is turning his legal drama into an eight-episode MTV reality show.

Cameras will follow the rapper through many of his 1,000 hours of community service leading up to his yearlong prison sentence. Shooting will start this summer, T.I. will begin serving his sentence in early 2009, and MTV will air the series shortly after that. Shooting will respect his curfew of 1 am when working on a project, and 11pm otherwise.

The concept for the show apparently came about right after T.I. secured the plea bargain that brought his sentence down from four years to one.

T.I. said about the series, “Hopefully the mistakes I’ve made will be a lesson to today’s youth and they won’t go down that same path.”

The series will also follow T.I. through the August 12th release of his new album, Paper Trails.

Lakers K.O. Spurs to reach the NBA Finals

They did it, 100-92. No one, not the die hards, not the haters, no one thought the Lakers would do it. But they did. The LA Lakers defeated the defending champion San Antonio Spurs last night, advancing to the NBA finals for the first time in four years.

Kobe Bryant scored 39 points for the Lakers who wrapped up the best-of-seven series in five games. Now its just time to see comes out of the east. I'm counting on in being the Celtics who currently leads, 3-2 with game six in Detroit tonight. The Lakers and Celtics have not met in the finals since 1987.

Bill to Be Passed in Donda West's Name

The untimely death of Dr. Donda West, mother of rapper Kanye West, in November of last year, a result of complications from a cosmetic surgical procedure, has prompted California legislators to propose a Bill named after the academic scholar. The idea came to life after the West family entered the "It Ought to Be a Law" contest sponsored by Assemblywoman Amina Carter. The bill would require plastic surgeons to give patients a physical exam before performing any surgical procedure. Yolanda Anderson, the niece of Donda has become the spokesperson advocating this bill after complications after cosmetic surgery caused her aunt to have a heart attack. Dr. West’s death has already inspired several similar bills in various states including Illinois and Florida.

Talk about creativity, Kanye may have strayed away from the concept of the song a little, but the dark and sinister feel to this video does send chills up your spine. Kanye beats us over the head with the third version of the video to his banger Flashing Lights. I wish he would have originally released this one because it really has potential to be a classic. Its reminiscent of Thriller - infused with a 2008 budget. OMG, this joint is insane.

Actress Meagan Good is featured as Vanity Fair's, 'Vanity Girl' for June 2008. The spotlight features up-and-coming actresses on the cusp of fame or those who have just hit it big in a retro 50s-style pinup shot.

You’ll see her soon, playing alongside Mike Myers and Justin Timberlake in the comedy, The Love Guru, out this month.

Meagan also just produced her first film titled, Miles from Home—which made its debut at Cannes. Her character is a quirky girl living with aids.

Al Reynolds, the New Face of Under Armour

Al Reynolds, famously known for being Star Jones' (now ex) husband, is said to be the new face of athletic performance apparel brand Under Armour. Apparently he will be endorsing their 30 piece line for Summer 2008. The ads will begin to appear in July, making Reynolds the company’s first non-sports "star" to endorse the line.

Diddy has been offering up plenty of career advice to singer (and rumored girlfriend) Cassie lately. But does this include ditching ex-boyfriend, Ryan Leslie???

According to the NY Daily News, Diddy has been telling her that she no longer needs him.

Leslie, the Harvard educated, singer/producer for artists such as Beyoncé, Danity Kane and Britney Spears, "discovered Cassie," says a source. She even sings the hook on his latest, but yet to be released, single, Addiction. Not to mention that he is executive producing her new project for Bad Boy. But now that Diddy has his eye on her, will the tides change?

Diddy's rep, of course, denies any friction.

New Music: Common feat. Pharrell "Universal Mind Control"

Common takes a different approach on the said-to-be first single off his Kanye-less, new album, Invisible Summer, due out in .... Universal Mind Control, with its sick flow, dope beat (thanks to Thellonius P), and a couple club cliches for the mindless masses - is sure to garner some commercial success which is longer over due him. My initial thought, when I first heard it was 'he’s trying to ride on the hipster trend,' but once the chorus started, I was doing the robot in my chair.

Lakers take 3-1 Series Lead

What a close finish.The Lakers handed the Spurs their first home defeat of the playoffs last night. MVP Kobe Bryant scored 28 points with 10 rebounds as the Lakers held off the Spurs 93-91 to take a three-games-to-one lead in the best-of-seven Western Conference final series.

The Lakers will try to close out the series and book their spot in the Finals when they host game five in Los Angeles on Thursday.

Sex and the City Movie NYC Premiere

The pink carpet was rolled out andsprinkled with faux diamonds, as thousands of anxious fans lined the block of New York's Radio City Music Hall - their screams filling the air. The scene was set for the Sex And The City movie's über-fabulous homecoming premiere.

"It's one of the great nights of my professional career," boasted leading lady -Sarah Jessica Parker, who lived up to her cosmopolitain-sipping character's reputation, wearing a strapless silver Nina Ricci gown.

Cattrall wore a clingy metallic Vivienne Westwood dress, while Kristin Davis sparkled in a gold prom-style Donna Karan. And Cynthia Nixon, Narciso Rodriguez.

A massive trend in 2007, the Ray-Ban Wayfarer , is not yet ready to die out. With major fashion influences like Kate Moss still wearing theirs, the vintage Ray-Ban trend has continued to 2008. The re-launch of the infamous Ray-Ban Wayfarer sunglasses caused quite the frenzy in Tinseltown- with everyone who was anyone, donning a pair. Celebs like Lindsay Lohan, Rihanna and Kanye West had a lot to do with bringing the trend to a much wider, perhaps younger demographic.

Tyra Banks was spotted yesterday, making her way through LAX airport in Los Angeles after spending her Memorial Day weekend in New York. Fly straight off a 5 hour flight, the always fashionable ex-supermodel looked "characteristically trendy" in a retro mini-dress, and head wrap.

Meanwhile, with two hit shows under her belt, Tyra is reportedly as highly paid as she was at her peak, before she hung up her stilletos in 2005, earning $50, 000 a day. Add to that the dough she rakes in from her hit shows (at least $18 million according to the 2007 Forbes Celebrity 100 money list) the runway diva turned media mogul is well on her way to becoming the next Oprah Winfrey.

2-1 in the Western Conference Finals

Ok, so we knew that the San Antonio cockroaches wouldn't die easily, and that it was going to take alot or Raid coupled with killer instinct to get three straight wins. Well the Lakers didnt bring it tonight, and Manu was a beast. Putting down 3 after 3. Duncan also had a big night, achieving his 10th 20/20 game of his playoff career. The Spurs just looked rejuvenated and made the Lakers pay for every mistake. It was a must win game for them and they did just that. Game 4 tonight.

Adios----Sonny Okosun

Farewell to Nigerian music Legend and Evangelist, Sonny Okosun, who lost his battle with colon cancer on saturday,05/24/08. The 61 year old died at Howard University Teaching Hospital in Wasgington D.C, USA, where he was receiving treatment. He was a great inspirational singer whose music spoke to issues affecting the state of the nation, a freedom and unity activist....a man of God. Though he is gone,his music and his works will live forever....May his soul rest in peace...Amen!

Spotted: Bey and Jay Party it Up in Cannes

Beyonce and Jay Z were spotted partying it up at the Palm Beach Casinoin Cannes France on Friday. As we previously reported, the couple had planned a party to celebrae their recent nuptials amongst a few friends. Guests included Diddy, Kerry Washington, and model Noemie Lenoir.

After dancing the night away, the couple quietly withdrew through the club’s back exit.

Usher Covers Entertainment Weekly

Usher is popping up everwhere lately. You can't turn on the tv wihtout seeing his face or hearing his songs. From his recent interview on Ellen, to his performances on SNL and Dancing with the Stars, he is definitely the "it" boy right now. All this to promote his new CD, Here I Stand, slated for release this Tuesday. Although I'm sure most of you are already up on it since it leaked last week.

Most recently, Usher is covering the June issue of Entertainment Weekly where he explains how his album came to be what it is now. Here's what he had to say.

”It starts off with a guy who’s in the club, having a good time, and going home with a woman. The character that I’m setting up is not a guy who is married right off; he’s a guy who goes through the journey of getting married….. I was going out night to night, having a different woman in my bed every time I chose, and I began to wonder: Am I really being a playa or am I a whore?”

Apparently it's a short trip from the top of the charts to the design showroom: N.E.R.D.'s frontman has collaborated with Domeau & Pérès on a chair (pictured), called Perspective. The seat represents "the love between a woman and a man," or so he says. (Judging by those feet, we'd say it's a pretty literal interpretation.) Perspective will be shown this October at Paris's Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin and sold in limited editions, with four being produced in several colors. No price yet, though we're sure it won't be cheap—but then again, it's a lot classier than your other sex furniture.

What a blowout! Lakers Win Over Spurs to Take 2-0 Playoff Lead . Kobe Bryant scored 22 points and Lamar Odom added 20 as the Los Angeles Lakers coasted to a 101-71 win over San Antonio last night.You already know! Did the Spurs even show up!?

Naomi Campbell was reduced to tears on her birthday last night - recalling the hit song It's My Party And I'll Cry If I Want To.

The supermodel, who just appeared on last nights Ugly Betty season finale, celebrated her 38th birthday with friends in Cannes, and then moved on to a VIP party aboard music mogul Diddy's yacht. She was all smiles as she arrived in a glamorous lace party dress but, at around 3 this morning, she was spotted looking upset, with tears in her eyes.

The reason for her meltdown remains unclear, but Naomi and Diddy do have a history of confrontation. According to reports last year — at Jermaine Dupri's Grammy afterparty in LA — Diddy shouted at Naomi in the middle of the party, leaving her shocked and upset.
