LANVIN METALLIC PRINT & SUEDE SNEAKER | S/S 2010

You’d think we’d be sick of Lanvin’s signature sneakers by now, but the fashion house continues to find subtle changes and new colourways to keep us interested. As with the Spring/Summer 2010 collection of Kris Van Assche, Lanvin’s collection is also available for Pre-Order at Luisaviaroma. This metallic print and suede mix high cut, is my favourite of the pack to see its release gradually over the next few months.

Lanvin's latest Spring/Summer footwear collection doesn’t disappoint with a range of high and mid-top sneakers in their familiar designs. I love that they resist the temptation of many fashion brands to over embellish their footwear and instead focus on design and premium fabrics. With a relatively minimal design and a silhouette that is both slim enough for fashion wear, but chunky enough to authentically reference the sportswear that inspired them they have employed high quality calfskin and silk grosgrain ribbon to elevate them to true luxury status.

Lucas Ossendrijver has reinvented the menswear collection, creating a somewhat cult following for the label, its sneakers themselves have become almost too popular. The Lanvin High Top Trainer comes for Fall/Winter 2009 in a nice new jersey felt/suede version. They also added a wide ankle strap to it, along with some gold accents on the eyelets. The sneaker are now available from Aloha Rag..

THE SUPERHEROES OF FASHION UNITE AT PARIS FASHION WEEK

Kanye West and his colorful entourage, which includes the likes of Fonsworth Bentley, Taz Arnold, Don C, Chris Julian and Ibn Jasper made there rounds for the men's shows in Paris. They attended Louis Vuitton, where Mr. West debuted his collaboration sneaker on the runway. Contunuing through Fashion Week, they also made stops at the Commes Des Garcons, Dior Homme, and Lanvin showings.

I gotta give it to them... they sure know how to make a damn entrance.

MY LATEST OBSESSION: LANVIN SIDE-ZIP LOW

Coming from the Lanvin Autumn/Winter 2008 collection, is this Side Zip Trainer. The upper comes in a mix of suede and patent leather. The zipper has been placed all along the lacing in a contrasting strong blue colorway.

THE AUTUMN/WINTER 2008 LANVIN HI-TOPS ARE HERE!!!

As part of their Fall/Winter 2008 collection, Lanvin's popular hi-top sneakers return. Aloha Rag and Barneys got them in this weekend in black, brown and beige. All three come in a mix of patent leather and suede and look as usual very sleek. If you got a spare $820 USD, then this is a good way to invest them. INDULGE YOURSELF.

ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL: LANVIN FALL '08

Here is the first image from Lanvin's Fall 2008 ad campaign, with Liya Kebede and Raquel Zimmermann caught mid-motion on a dark city street. Hard to believe this was shot by Steven Meisel at Smashbox Studios in LA, huh?

MY LATEST OBSESSION: THE NEW AND IMPROVED LANVIN HIGH-TOP

Lanvin's sneakers have been the trend setter for a couple of seasons now. Using innovation materials, especially metallic coloured leather, mesh, satin etc, the high end stylesn not only command attention, but high prices as well.

For Spring/Summer 2009, we've seen the reinterpretation of their hi top sneakers, this time with metallic captoe and using bead embroidery on the sides of the shoe. Colours are again refreshing my fav is the deep purple with lavender metallics. Also available in gold with red.

MY LATEST OBSESSION: LANVIN DENIM HIGH-TOPS

Recently the Lanvin x ACNE JEANS collaboration was announced. Today we came across the denim sneakers that are part of the collaboration. We have always been big fans of Lanvin high top sneakers, that coupled with ACNE denim is just perfect.

These are coming out November '08.

LANVIN TO USE ALL ETHNIC MODELS

It seems designers are finally responding to the discontent over the absence of black models on the runways by having more diverse castings this season. So it looks like the amount of press that has been stirring up recently, surrounding the lack of diversity in fashion is beginning to take precedence for some. Yesterday we told you about the Dsquared show in Milan and it seems that it may carry over into Paris as well. Its been rumored that Alber Elbaz for Lanvin has decided to book ONLY ethnic models for their menswear show next week. Fitting news to report on the day that the anticipated Vogue Italia hits newsstands in the UK. We must point out, however, that while this is all extremely exciting, Sean "Diddy" Combs started it when he showed his fall 2008 Sean John collection with an all-black cast at New York Fashion Week back in February. I'm anxious to see what lead menswear designer, Lucas Ossendrijver has done for us this season.
