FIVE MODELS JUST GOT ALOT MORE FAMOUS

Victoria's Secret just named five new Angels. They are Emanuela de Paula, Lindsay Ellingson, Candice Swanepoel, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and Chanel Iman. Current Angels include Heidi Klum, Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Miranda Kerr, Marisa Miller, andDoutzen Kroes. Adriana and Heidi are having babies, so the company needed some backup perfect people who had the requisite experience wearing underwear and the ability to walk a straight line with floor-to-ceiling feathered contraptions chained to their backs. Also, Heidi is only hosting the show instead of walking the runway this year, because one month is not enough time for her to get perfect again, post-delivery. The Victoria's Secret fashion show tapes in New York on November 19. A "real person" chosen from a countrywide model search should join the new and old Angels in their conquest of the world's most glittery runway.

Chanel Iman and Jourdan Dunn appear on the cover of Teen Vogue's November issue. They ooze love and good vibrations for one another. Nothing's better than two perfect-looking young women loving each other on the cover of a teen magazine! But their friendship saw a dark day. A dark, jealous, competitive day.

"I could sit here and tell you, 'I love Jourdan! We've always been the best of friends!'" she says. "But we haven't. Until recently, we barely even spoke. We went from being superclose in the beginning," she says, "to dead silence if we saw each other backstage at a show." Not even a hello? "If we did say hi, it was hi, and that's it."

For that bastion of friendship and warm fuzzies that is the fashion industry came between them, if you can imagine. Jourdan explains that black models are pitted against each other because there are so few jobs for them. Many labels are only looking for one black girl at castings. Jourdan says, "People will say things in Chanel's ear like, 'Jourdan is taking your spot,' and then they'll say to me, 'Don't trust Chanel.'"

I-D FIRST FASHION MAGAZINE TO SHOWCASE WOMEN OF COLOR ON SEPTEMBER 2009 ISSUE

The "major surprise cover" and "major moment in fashion" Sessilee Lopez and Chanel Iman both teased in April is finally here: They are joined by Arlenis Sosa Pena and Jourdan Dunn on the September 2009 cover of i-D, photographed by Emma Summerton, styled by Edward Enninful, marking the first (and so far only) major fashion magazine to go with women of color for their September issue this season.

CHANEL IMAN AND LAUREN CONRAD KEEP TV CAREERS ALIVE WITH AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL

Tyra is bringing in a cast of shorties for the thirteenth season of America's Next Top Model. And if that's not enough to get you to watch, she's got a clan of glitterati scheduled to come in and guest judge them. Troops include Lauren Conrad, Chanel Iman, Kim Kardashian, and others. Tyra needed the boldest of boldface names to join her on the judging panel after she laid off Paulina Porizkova. Likewise, Chanel Iman and Lauren Conrad needed Tyra to keep their television careers alive. Chanel has basically been off the air since MTV stopped rerunning its revived House of Style. And Lauren Conrad is off The Hills and has nothing to do so she may as well go look at a bunch of short girls and give them something to aspire to, since they're about as likely to become real fashion models as Andre Leon Talley is to burn her entire stash of turbans. But what really gets us is that all the accomplished guest judges are on the same playing field as Kim Kardashian, whose incomprehensibly fame-worthy accomplishments include only having a big butt and getting it Photoshopped. But at least she can show the short contestants, that even if they're short and can't be models, they can still make something of themselves, on E! if they're lucky.

SHEER BOTTOMS AND CHANEL IMAN 'IN' AT DIOR

Images from the Christian Dior fall 2009 couture show, which walked yesterday in Paris, are trickling in. And it reveals John Galliano still loves those sheer bottoms. Sheer skirts also appeared in Galliano's fall 2008 couture and spring 2009 ready-to-wear shows for Dior. I'm interested in the black knee-length skirt Chanel Iman (far left) wore on the runway. Although you'll probably want one of their $8,895 couture slips to go with that.

AMBER ROSE SIGNS WITH FORD MODELS

Major advantages of dating Kanye West: access to the front row of every fashion show - the chance to hang out with Madonna at the Met Ball - free sneakers from Ye's line with Louis Vuitton (OK, we made that up but we're thinking it's probably true). And, it seems, in the case of Kanye's much-debated-about-but-still-very-much-girlfriend Amber Rose, a full-on modeling contract. According to fashion insider Derek Blasberg's Twitter account, she has just signed a giant contract with Ford Models, the agency which incidentally also looks after the likes of Chanel Iman.

Is someone looking to respond to last July's iconic Vogue Italia dedicated to black models??? We're not sure, however models Chanel Iman and Sessilee Lopez both posted updates to Twitter from London about booking a big cover shoot. And though they didn't mention being together, the tweets came only hours apart, fueling rumors that they landed the cover of Vogue Paris, British Vogue, or Love, a big deal for two of the industry's top black models. Via Chanel: "IN London Shooting a MAJOR SURPRISE COVER!!!!Its top secret can't give it away!!" Via Sessilee: "Leaving London now!!! My God when you guys see the photos from this shoot you will die, all i can say is ITS A MAJOR MOMENT IN FASHION!!!!!" We're only hoping whatever it is warrants all of those exclamation points.

Instead of walking Yves Saint Laurent yesterday, Lily Donaldson took a seat front row — after the first look came out. The house's Fall face Naomi Campbell was also in attendance, and "hooted and hollered" when Chanel Iman appeared on the runway.

CHANEL IMAN BRINGS GUCCI BACK TO BLACK

Jourdan Dunn broke down walls last season at Prada, becoming the first black woman to walk for the house in ten years, and today Chanel Iman had her moment. This afternoon, she walked at Gucci, modeling two looks, becoming the first black woman to walk for the house since the Tom Ford days ended in 2005 and current creative director Frida Giannini took over.

NAOMI'S NIGHT | FASHION FOR RELIEF

THE fashion A-list stepped out last night in the name of charity - and a little glamour of course - in aid of Naomi Campbell’s : Fashion for Relief - the 3rd annual charity fashion show/auction is benefitting women through pregnancy and childbirth.

This years all-star celebrity fashion show opened with singer Estelle who was welcomed with cheers from the boisterous crowd. This being followed by the iconic moment when Naomi would take to the runway alongside newcomer, and the busiest girl at London Fashion Week, Chanel Iman.

Fashion legend Vivienne Westwood went for confident stroll down the catwalk, wearing huge platform heels with seemingly little effort. And Tyson Beckford was of course on hand to walk the event.

A SPLASH OF COLOR AT DVF S/S 09

The Diane Von Furstenburg show was as pretty as always. The resort 2009 collection was based on the designer and her friends when they were in their twenties, and also pays homage to fashion icon Diane Vreeland, who taught us we could be "a little bit [god]/goddess, a little bit rock star."

JLo showed up, and pretty much brought down the house. Paparazzi flooded the runway to the point that front-row editors were steamed about the presence of too many actresses in their midst, and so the PR girls started kicking photographers out.

When the show finally begin I was delighted to see a little color in the mix. A number of black faces were cast- including Vogue Italia girls, Sesilee Lopez, Arlenis Sosa and Chanel Iman.
