i-D, TIMES TWELVE!

Leave it to i-D to outdo previous multi-cover mags; this month, the British book has twelve (yes, twelve) different covers to celebrate the Best of British issue. From icons like Twiggy, Kate and Naomi to newbies like Jourdan Dunn, Alice Dellal, and Daisy Lowe, bevies of lovely Brits grace the glossy, along with some words of wisdom from Agyness Deyn.

Those July 2008 Vogue Italia shockwaves keep on resonating: Black models are covering POP Fall '08, Harper's Bazaar September '08, and now Jourdan Dunn pops up on i-D's September '08 cover, photographed by Emma Summerton. Even V 55 is rumored to be a Naomi Campbell extravaganza. While on the topic of Naomi, how much does Jourdan call to mind the supermodel on this cover and for that matter in the entirety of the accompanying "Welcome to the Witching Hour" editorial?

NAOMI FOR i-D MAGAZINE

Not only is Naomi gracing one of four covers of the iconic, all-black Italian Vogue, but she’s also hitting the cover of August’s i-D as well. This time she’s posing with Yves Saint Laurent's Stefano Pilati, only she isn’t wearing any of the label’s designs. She isn’t wearing anything at all actually. Given that she’s the star of his fall campaigns, this seems a touch confusing. But perhaps naked, winking Naomi is convincing enough to prompt people to shell out a few grand on pants. And as she is in the ads, this blurs the line a bit between editorial and advertising. But hey, she looks good, right?
