The "major surprise cover" and "major moment in fashion" Sessilee Lopez and Chanel Iman both teased in April is finally here: They are joined by Arlenis Sosa Pena and Jourdan Dunn on the September 2009 cover of i-D, photographed by Emma Summerton, styled by Edward Enninful, marking the first (and so far only) major fashion magazine to go with women of color for their September issue this season.

CHANEL IMAN AND SESSILEE LOPEZ TWEET POTENTIALLY ICONIC COVER SHOOT

Is someone looking to respond to last July's iconic Vogue Italia dedicated to black models??? We're not sure, however models Chanel Iman and Sessilee Lopez both posted updates to Twitter from London about booking a big cover shoot. And though they didn't mention being together, the tweets came only hours apart, fueling rumors that they landed the cover of Vogue Paris, British Vogue, or Love, a big deal for two of the industry's top black models. Via Chanel: "IN London Shooting a MAJOR SURPRISE COVER!!!!Its top secret can't give it away!!" Via Sessilee: "Leaving London now!!! My God when you guys see the photos from this shoot you will die, all i can say is ITS A MAJOR MOMENT IN FASHION!!!!!" We're only hoping whatever it is warrants all of those exclamation points.

RUMOR MILL | KANYE'S NEW JUMPOFF, AMBER ROSE

After specualtion that he had been dating Brazilian supermodel Sessilee Lopez, Kanye West has been seen sportin’ a new chick on his arm recently, model/video vixen Amber Rose. Amber accompanied him to several events during New York Fashion Week and the two were also spotted getting real cozy at Rose Bar in NYC. Now it appears that Ye brought his new 'piece' across the pond where they've been spotted making rounds at London Fashion Week. Word is Amber is actually doing pretty well with the pressures of dating a world famous rapper. A source tells the NY Daily News,

“She’s going to be good for him. Amber is a model with a fly, out-there, in-your-face style and attitude, just like Kanye. She’s his match. Traveling with Kanye can be rough - photographers swarms him wherever he goes, but Amber is cool and collected about it all. She doesn’t care about industry stuff, and she actually understands Kanye.”

Supermodel Sessilee Lopez is best known for being one of the four cover models of last years' coveted Vogue Italia “Black Issue”. And now she’s rocking the pages of Latina magazine and talking about the rumors of her being Kanye West’s new chick and other ish.

Sessilee On Kayne West:
“Me and Kanye are just friends,” she says, for the record. “He’s a great guy. I’m attracted to the way he thinks. It’s a great quality to be creative and not be afraid to voice that.”

Sessilee On Working with Tyra Banks:
“I was like a sponge when I worked with her,” Lopez says. “She told me, ‘You have to let the public as well as the fashion world know who you are.’

Sessilee On being a Dominican model:
“Fashion is very black and white,” she says. “It doesn’t pay attention to heritage much. They don’t see me as a Dominican girl. They just see the color of my skin. It can be hard, because it’s your heritage and you want to be appreciated for it, but it’s just modeling, so I don’t let it get to me.

A possible romance with Kanye West has the gorgeous Sessilee Lopez plastered all over the tabloids. But this MAJOR model has been racking up quite the fashion following before the celebrity gossip. Her latest feat, this campaign for Bergdorf Goodman.

808'S AND JAIL BAIT

Kanye West revealed a few weeks back how lonely he feels after splitting with ex-fiancee Alexis Phiefer. Well now he is being romantically linked to 19 year old model Sessilee Lopez. After Kanye West handpicked the rising star for his "Flashing Lights" music video, the Sun reports that the two "have spent a lot of time together recently as Kanye has invited her along to numerous parties. They’ve also spent some down time together." The pairing isn't surprising — after all, Kanye is the fashionphile and Sessilee a rising runway star.

It’s claimed that the two have shared a few quiet nights in together recently and that the relationship is more than just superficial.

We can't say 'Ye is no longer heartbroken, but what we can say is that Sess has damn sure found some good publicity..

SNEAK PEEK | VICTORIA SECRET'S FASHION SHOW 2008

The focus of this year's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show was "glamour, sophistication and the return to elegance," said chief costume designer, Todd Thomas. The annual flesh fest was filmed Saturday at the newly renovated Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami. Usher performed twice. Adriana Lima modeled the $5 million, 1,500-karat bra, yes, Selita Ebanks and Noemie Lenoir strapped on some giant wings for a strut, but the highlight for me was seeing Sessille Lopez and Arlenis Sosa Pena take to the runway. The show airs December 3 on CBS, but you can see a peek of the sophistication and elegance for yourself right here.

SESSILEE MIXES THINGS UP AT GIRBAUD

We were more than disappointed with Milan's all white runways. So we're glad designers are mixing it up in Paris. Sessilee Lopez opened up the Marithé et François Girbaud show yesterday morning, after walking Vivienne Westwood the night before. (We've also spotted Hollis, Arlenis and Chanel. And not that we don't love Jourdan, but one gorgeous girl of color per runway just doesn't cut it).

Anyway, the audience summed up the clothes on MFG's runway. Front row-ers channeled their best street style vibes mixed with a little bit of girly and lots of denim.

There was one dress we're pretty sure you could make out of a pillowcase.

Milan Fashion Week is on its final leg. Karl Lagerfeld sent Über-messy-haired models down the runway at Fendi, Dsquared2 brought back the side slit, and Matthew Williamson showed his last Pucci collection.

ACROSS THE POND
I normally don't pay much attention to London Fashion Week - as I'm more so interested in London street style. But the latest collection from London designer Giles Deacon has made me turn my attention to the runways this season. He stunned audiences on Tuesday with a collection that took as its inspiration the 1980s computer game Pac-Man. He's always been known for pushing boundaries on the catwalk and for challenging traditional ideas of womenswear. This time around he gave us a futuristic, sci-fi thread ran through the 37-outfit collection, which included billowing, show-stopping gowns. Mix in a little Jessica Stam, Sessilee Lopez and Agyness Deyn, et Voila!!! Pure Magic...

TYRA BANKS AND SESSILEE LOPEZ'S ODE TO MAHOGANY | V MAG OCTOBER 2008

Tyra Banks and Sessilee Lopez recreate some of the avant-garde looks Diana Ross rocked in the 1975 cult classic, Mahogany, in the October issue of V Magazine. I've always loved Tyra in editorial shoots but I think hats go off to Sessilee.

A SPLASH OF COLOR AT DVF S/S 09

The Diane Von Furstenburg show was as pretty as always. The resort 2009 collection was based on the designer and her friends when they were in their twenties, and also pays homage to fashion icon Diane Vreeland, who taught us we could be "a little bit [god]/goddess, a little bit rock star."

JLo showed up, and pretty much brought down the house. Paparazzi flooded the runway to the point that front-row editors were steamed about the presence of too many actresses in their midst, and so the PR girls started kicking photographers out.

When the show finally begin I was delighted to see a little color in the mix. A number of black faces were cast- including Vogue Italia girls, Sesilee Lopez, Arlenis Sosa and Chanel Iman.

SESSILEE LOPEZ FOR HERVE LEGER RESORT '09

While we've seen bandage dresses on every young (and sometimes old) starlet, I'm still not quite over them. Here's the Herve Leger Resort 2009 lookbook featuring Sessilee Lopez. I think Max Azria is still doing the damn thing with this label, even though some of the fall dresses were iffy. This collection looks great though, not to mention I have fallen in love with Sessilee.

IT'S FINALLY HERE!!!!!

On my lunch break I rushed all the way across town to get my copy. There were two left - Sesilee's cover and Liya's - I got them both. I was delighted to get them for $20 a piece, becuase I'd heard rumors that they we're retailing for $40. Three words- Sheer Visual Perfection. It's amazing, the beauty and life that Steven Meisel was able to extract from them. So much that you almost feel you are seeing these women for the very first time.

Do we think it will cause for change? Probably not, however it sparked valuable conversation about the lack of diversity on the runway today and forced certain issues to be brought to light. It's sure to go down in fashion history.
