footwear: BALENCIAGA S|S 2010

While Lanvin who receives most of the attention around the luxury sneaker trend, I’ve personally been a fan of Balenciaga’s contribution to the mix for the past few seasons, this coming season being no exception. Nicolas Ghesquière has turned the french fashion house into a force to be reckoned with since his takover in 1997, and continues to do so with menswear not being left aside. The past few seasons have seen Balenciagas sneakers kept to mainly monotone colour sets, this year things are changed up a little, with a mixure of materials also playing a role.

BALENCIAGA VARSITY JACKET

Chris Brown was spotted posing with Rocsi at BET’s “106 & Park’ in a Balenciaga Varsity Jacket ($1,995). This varsity jacket is special in that it’s tailored by pulling the shoulder seams above the arms and tightening the chest & arm sleeves to create a far more fitted European look.

BALENCIAGA PLEATED LEATHER HI-TOPS

Balenciaga presents these new hi-tops as part of their Spring/Summer 2009 collection - the Pleated Leather Trainer. The sneakers feature pleated leather uppers, silver eyelets and loops and rubber soles. They are now available in two colorways at Browns, $ 443.

BALENCIAGA HI-TOP SNEAKER

The sneaker comes in a mix of leather and mesh with black and grey colorway. I like the minimalist style. Simple, yet chic. Don't know that they do for me the same thing the Lanvin's do, or the Dior's , for that matter. Cute nonetheless.

My Latest Obsession: Balenciaga Wood-Grain High-Top

I spent most of my time last week watching the clothes on the runway and didn't really pay attention to what was on the models' feet. I got a chance to zero in on some of the details however. Some of the shoes were particularly impressive, but these babies are like something right out of heaven. The wood-grain high-tops from Balenciaga are polished and an exactingly clean take on an idea you'd expect from a messier skate company. Simply amazing and totally chic!
