Hip-Hop still lives at Hot 97, but Jonesy doesn't. The New York radio station gives morning show personality Tarsha Jones, more commonly known as Miss Jones, the boot. She’s been replaced with two nationally syndicated shows, Big Boy in the Morning including the award-winning entertainment of national funny man Big Boy and MTV Entertainment Reporter Luscious Liz Hernandez, as well as Cipha Sounds and Peter Rosenberg early in the AM. Both shows will begin on Hot 97 effective July 21.
“Great talent is recognized by listeners coast to coast, and Big Boy is well known to be one of the funniest and hardest working entertainers in radio today,” said Sr. VP of Emmis New York Dan Halyburton.“Welcome to our neighborhood Big!”
As for Miss Jones:
“Miss Jones will work all of next week which will allow her enough time to bid farewell to her listeners. “Miss Jones is one of the hardest working radio people I have ever seen and she made history with Hot 97,” said Darden. “Miss Jones will have the mic in mornings all of next week so that she is given her proper respect to tell her listeners how much she appreciates them and reminisce about how great this program has been.”
I must say that I was extremely disappointed to hear of this news. My guess is that some drama unfolded, because it alll happened too abruptly. I listen to Miss Jones every single morning as I get ready for work. The show was always entertaining - funny as hell - and will be missed greatly. I wish her nothing but success in her future endeavors. She'll be conitunuing her syndicated show on Phillies 100.3, The Beat.
