model: DAYNE BRETT

Dayne Brett might look like the average fresh faced newbie that floods the industry season after season, but this rookie is to be taken seriously. Booking top runway shows is great, but booking campaigns is what sets a newcomer and rising star apart. And Dayne has no shortage of those, he's currently enlisted for Oak NY, been shot by the top photographers and was also seen recently alongside Zoe Saldana in Vanity Fair. He is represented by Basic Model Management and is definitely one to keep an eye out for.

PIERRE WOODS COVERS BRITISH GQ

Stomping the runways in Milan for D&G and Ferragamo, a remembered appearance in last years Ralph Lauren Polo campaign and a slew of feature editorials under his belt its not surprising that Pierre Woods is quickly becoming a recognizable face. Now he is covering British GQ Essentials. Photographer Tarrice Love : "This is big because magazines are notorious for selecting celebrities, athletes, and politicians to appear on their covers. This is an even bigger accomplishment for a black male model in this industry."

MEET THE NEW GUY: BRANDON PERRY

You might just want to put Brandon Perry on your radar. He's the baby-faced model out of New York, who despite not being signed to an agency, has been booking jobs like crazy. He's his own management! This month alone he appeared on the Wendy Williams Show and also landed a recurring role on All My Children.

How did this Brooklyn boy, with those come-hither eyes, end up modeling you ask? "My cousin Danielle pushed and pushed and pushed me to model," he explained. "I was so hesitant because I never thought I could exude that confidence it takes to really work the camera. One day she got me to come up to New York and do a shoot with her as the photographer. I took one look at those pictures and knew this is where I needed to be."

And here he is to stay. He hasn't been modeling for long but has already worked with some of New York's best photographers. He has the perfect statue and his pout is serious. From the looks of things, it seems like he's about to blow up. Watch.

His ultimate goal:
"To come out of the game knowing I ascended to the highest possible point I could climb. Be it national ads, international runway, I just want to know I made the biggest impact that I could. If I can help aspiring models along the way of course I'd do that as well."

MEET THE NEW GUY: PIERRE WOODS

It’s been quite the year for Illinois native Pierre Woods... After signing with Ford in Chicago and garnering much success- which included everything from billboards to TV commercials- he turned his attention to New York, or rather New York turned its attention to him. He signed with New York Models in April of last year. He made his debut in Milan, stomping down the runways for D & G and opening the Ferragamo show.

Most recently, though, he has become a favorite over at Ralph Lauren, where he appeared in the Polo by Ralph Lauren fall campaign. That news was quickly followed by an offer to be part of the Olympics campaign - a major feat considering he is the only featured black face. He’s definitely been making waves, so keep your eyes peeled. And when he’s not busy being really ridiculously good-looking and all that entails, you can probably catch him on myspace where he has posted photos from the campaign. Also check out his advertorial feature in the current issue of V Man, on newsstands now.

MEET THE NEW GUY: BRIAN PETERS

It's too early, and perhaps too optimistic, to say that black men are beginning to take over this fashion moment's standard of masculine beauty. But black male models have risen in prominence both in advertising and on the runway- remembering Dsquared's S/S '09 showing this past June. They have moved from boderline invisibility, into the spotlight.

One to definitely keep an eye out for is Brian Peters. He graduates from the University of Memphis this month and will move to New York just in time for campaign season. He's been making small waves ever since signing with Ford Model Management, and has been on option and hold for everything from Dolce and Gabbana to The Gap. He's gearing up to take the industry by storm, cementing his status as a rising star.

The boys over at Red might want to step to the side a bit to make way, Ford is getting ready to play hardball...
