Funeral services for Bernie Mac was held in his hometown of Chicago at the House of Hope on Saturday. His wife Rhonda and daughter Je’Niece were joined by thousands of Bernie’s fans and celebrity friends.
Fellow castmates from The Original Kings of Comedy, Cedric the Entertainer, D.L. Hughley and Steve Harvey alternated between solemn remembrance and raucous laughter as they spoke of their friend and colleague. Steve Harvey said, "I'll see you soon, Bernie...Well, I don't want to see you too soon."
Other notable attendees of the funeral were Rev. Jesse Jackson, Chris Rock, Don Cheadle and Samuel L. Jackson. Those who could not attend, sent notes including Sen. Barack Obama, Oprah and Bernie's Ocean's Eleven co-star Andy Garcia.
Mac died last week from complications with Pneumonia at the age of 50.
