Apple is hosting a Special Event (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/09/20060914090209.shtml) today at Photokina. The invite-only media event was first reported (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/08/20060821202913.shtml) in late August after members of the UK Press received invitations.
Details on the media event have been particularly scarce, but it is believed the event is currently taking place in Colonge, Germany.
There does not appear to be any live coverage for this event on the web. We will provide links or updates as they are received.

So im wondering while i wait for my new imac what your idle/load temps are
Would be super if you wrote which imac you have aswell.
Wondering how much the 95w * cpu does to the temp in the imac.

* 95Watts are only for the i5 3.1GHz and i7 3.4Ghz, i5 2.7 is rated 65W :o Anyway I'm curious too :D

edit: The Norwegian goverment today declared Facebook's new "Places"-integration might be illegal, and will discuss this matter with contacts in the EU.
They probably can't stop it, but I'm glad they're raising awereness of the privacy issues. I just don't see why there isn't at least a button you have to click to activate this. There's plenty of people who login to their FB accounts very rarely, including myself. I'm just glad I was informed about this by the media and in forums, so I can go and disable this feature ASAP.

You literally have to hit the big button labeled "Places" and then hit the "Check In" button in the upper right corner to get a list of places near your current location ( that's if you have already activated location services for the app) and then choose the place you are at, or even a place you are not actually at, and then hit the big blue "Check In" button below that for it to finally show your Facebook friends where you want them to think you are at. It takes at least 3 button presses to Check In to anywhere!

I find it funny how investors continue to trust these "analyst" even though none of them have any insider information and are wrong 90% of the time, the other 10% of the time they have been correct was from publishing rumors as facts from stories they more likely read here on MacRumors regarding future products.

Obviously the DSLR system didn't work for you, so the problem must still be a gear issue-- but in this case it's because you chose the wrong system. Time to start all over again, but this time with an artistically "proven" format.
Too funny. Always easy to point the accusatory finger for bad images everywhere except where it really belongs--at the photographer. Certain images can really require specific gear (including lighting gear), but often a bad image isn't about the gear but about the choices made by the photographer at the time of capture.

Actually, you should buy a camera that does not even have an "auto" switch. I strongly recommend something like an old (analog!) Pentax K-1000 as the first camera. There was a time when photography schools did not accept cameras with automatic features. With K-1000, you have to do EVERYTHING manually - and that is the best way to actually learn how to take photos.
Better gear does not make anyone a better photographer. HOWEVER, it can drastically improve the TECHNICAL aspects/results. If you want to make large posters of your pictures, then there are natural limits to what you can do with, let's say, a 6 MP camera.
Photoshop is a tool for graphics designers and the print business. For almost all photography needs, Aperture or Lightroom provide as much features as one will probably ever need. But none of those digital toys make you a better photographer.

There's usually a big difference between what you see and what your camera sees; try to get your tool in sync with your eye and imagination. It requires a lot of practice, so shoot a lot. The beauty of digital photography is that you can shoot as much as like without depleting your bank account - analog photography was more expensive to learn.

Most of your posts seem to fall into the curmudgeon category. This one is actually positive, helpful, and full of "win" :) I'd love to see more posts like this from you....

The problem is not that we build too many highways to nowhere, it is that they don't know how to properly design a highway in the first place. Traffic jams are caused by bottlenecks. Adding 5 more lanes won't fix it if the bottleneck still exists. Lets fix the roads we have now and build them to allow traffic to move more freely.

If the goal of Apple software is to sell Apple hardware, wouldn't it make more sense to give the airplay licenses away rather than trying to sell them?
You are looking at this from a "buying new products" position. What about all of those people who already own Roku and Boxee set-top systems? Those boxes are fully updatable and capable of playing back the exact same content the AppleTV can play (MPEG4, AAC, MP3, H.264, etc).
And for people that already own those, NONE of them would switch to an AppleTV. Reason: Roku and Boxee have far more features, save one (AirPlay), and AirPlay alone is not worth $99 to most of those Roku and Boxee owners.

Fantastic. Apple should have Thunderbolt across most of their Mac line by the time this comes out on the iPhone 5/iPad 3, and most new PCs will have USB 3.
Super-high-speed syncing, plus possibly external devices due to Thunderbolt's daisy chain ability?

I'd stay with DVD. A DVD is cheaper and more reliable than a thumb drive. I am aware that DVDs are not as cool as thumb drives, SSDs and liquid metal and therefore the gimme-new-stuff fan boys are in fact cool by rejecting them.
However DVDs work really great and are easy to store. Uncool, simple, cheap and reliable equals really cool from my point of view.

I think it is very telling for Microsoft that they weren't represented there. You had Yahoo!, Cisco Systems, Twitter
Oracle, NetFlix, Apple, Genentech, Google, The Westly Group, and Facebook.
Wrong, 180, on the first point. His Capt. Iconic uniform is on because it creates a buzz. Doesn't want attention? Simply wear generic sport coats, etc.
His Man of Mystery medical tour gets him far more attention than simply putting it out there would (like every other person in the world does).
What part of Jobs is shy and retiring? He is a rock star and likes it. Why people try to make him into some sort of monk or something is strange.

No way in hell. They've already asked their developers to change app resolutions once. 3 screen sizes will never fly with developers.

Okay... but look at the Android operating system... they ask developers to adjust their apps to every new Android phone that comes out, because the OS is slightly different depending on the phone. Asking them to change the resolution of their apps is not too big of a deal in comparison.

I have read that you should find a type of photography that you're good at and stick with it rather than try to be a jack of all trades type. Trying to do sports, weddings and landscape all at once may not be the best idea, for example.

Rather, I think a more appropriate way is to think of it in terms of comfort zones. I'm mostly doing indoors portraits right now, I've got the gear down and I know roughly how to get what I want in terms of lighting. That's my comfort zone. I could continue doing just that and take good pictures, but I also want to challenge myself. How can I bring lighting outside? How should I deal with harsh sunlight? These are areas outside of my comfort zone, and only by exploring them can I grow.
My own addition to the list: "don't think, just shoot".

Anyone who seriously believes the fairy tale about dropping support for Exchange I ask you - why then does Microsoft support it still in 2010 Office and always have? Betcha don't have a valid answer, but I do. Microsoft knows the game and how to play it.
