Well I've not yet appeared in the news. Note that when I talk about the rebellious crowd, I'm referring to more than just you and the peopl in this thread. There has been a total overreaction to it in the news and by 'celebrities' over the country. In any case, that's not irony.
Some time in the future when past christmas number ones are played I'll get a little smile when I hear 2009's.
I sincerely hope not. I'd rather have anything other than a poor metal track being played continually on the radio over the festive period.

I tend to use all the office apps and go back and fourth depending on needs. The exception is PowerPoint for Windows, I don't use that very much.

I think what we are all seeing is that the differentiating factor between Apple and "the others" is no longer software. Windows 7 is now good enough that it can easily compete with (and in many areas, exceed) the software offering on any Mac.
It's now down to hardware manufacturers to do the work to bring their machines up to a standard to match the OS. From what I've seen Dell have been making significant improvements in recent months and years and Lenovo still exudes quality.
Three or four years ago I wouldn't have considered anything that wasn't made by Apple. But now I'd definitely look at a Windows machine first when replacing my desktop and I'd give some Windows laptops a lot of consideration as well.
Unless I went iMac I would never go Apple for a desktop. I think Windows is better than OS X unless taking into account the benefits of a MBP+OS X in terms of power management/trackpad. Add the cost of a MP and forget it. Laptops they still have the best balance between design, specs, and quality as well as nice battery life in OS X.
Their MBP prices still need to come down a lot before I could ever bring myself to pay the premium though.

Pretty cool that some kid can take initiative and do what Apple apparently cannot.
I am sure there is going to be a bunch going back and forth. It is very hard to prosecute on this if it was a parts order the primary didn't accept. He may claim that he is just selling surplus or discarded parts as salvage. Love to know who is footing the PIs bill to harass this kid.

If people are less likely to use a cashier who is an ethnic minority (which I dispute, but anyway), would that make them less productive and less valuable for their employer?
So, if it is thought that an ethnic minority would actually do a job worse, because of other people's discrimination, then ethnicity technically would make a difference to their ability to do a job.
Would this be grounds for not employing them?
I just don't see that in real life and I think it would be almost impossible to prove in a court of law.
My belief is that we need to move beyond skin color and towards a system where the economically repressed are given a better chance to move up the ladder of success.

This is great contrast. Love the yellow. Even though it's a bit centered it works because of the curves and the lighting. My suggestion is to go ahead and black out the sky that's showing through. To me it makes it even stronger. I tried cropping it and I think it looks better at it's current size with the sky blacked out.

If iOS supported DLNA you would be able to do this without any new standard, there is no need for a new apple developed standard for this, I can stream video from my android phone to my TV, Bluray and PVR already. This is something devices have been able to do before Airplay came along.
It's not hat these devices need a new standard, just for apple to support an already industry wide used one.

I vote for a iPhone shuffle you clip to your chest. When you receive a call, you just tap it to answer and it goes on speaker. When you want to make a copy, you tap it and with voice commands you can call someone from your call list. I saw a prototype used on a famous TV sci-fi series and it seemed to work really well.
Another idea is the tricorder iPhone series that is 7 inches and you can cram additional capabilities and include a strap to place around your shoulder. It could be light enough to hold with one hand and have the other hand free for a weapon.

This works out to what, $470 a piece? Give me a break.

A MacBook trackpad does NOT need a click to register.
You can change the settings so that you do not need to click at all, it simply takes your touch as a click. I use it in this way all the time, I NEVER click the touchpad.

You can use the MacBook 100% without EVER clicking the physical button.
The trackpad can be setup in System Preferences to respond to a touch as a click rather than a physical click. That is the way I have used it from days one and I have no issues with it at all.
I always question the sanity of people who use laptops this way.

1x Athlon XP 2600+ - A friend is keeping it at my place for a while, so I'll just borrow it a little bit. Will probably fold most of the time.
Getting 1x Athlon 64 3200+ in a week or so, which I'll also install F@H on.
/Trying to avoid dropping into 800th place.

We just need a new chip - g5, power4, what ever. We need a chip that can go head to head against the Wintel world and not rely on 2 processors to try and keep up (and even now, this isn't working)
Its very frustrating and I hope Apple will all make us happy sometime soon.
