KANYE'S PASTELLE LINE NEVER TO BE RELEASED

So that fashion line called Pastelle that Kanye West has been working on for ages? Not happening. After images from the Pastelle look book leaked on the web earlier this week, his people revealed that the line would never be released. It's very strange — Kanye seemingly put everything aside to devote himself to fashion design. He cleared his schedule for an entire five months, starting in February, to work on Pastelle and his Louis Vuitton sneaker collaboration. He even delayed his tour (which is neither here nor there now, since it isn't happening anyway, but we digress!). So meticulous is Kanye as a designer that after working on the line for over a year, he only produced four pieces, which include three articles of clothing and a belt. But if he eventually created enough clothing to shoot what appeared to be a look book, why all of a sudden take it all back?

Perhaps Kanye is the kind of creator who is never satisfied. The kind of creator who never sees the genius in his own work. Karl Lagerfeld may dash off sketch after sketch and produce outfit after outfit, but maybe Kanye torments himself over every detail, never able to reconcile his vision with the resulting physical product. And so he has scrapped that which will never be good enough — inhis eyes. Either that, or this is just some elaborate hoax to drum up more press and excitement for the line Kanye's reps say he will eventually launch. SIGH

fall: DSQUARED SOFT LEATHER BIKER JACKET

Temperatures are dropping and staying warm has become a necessity. We all know a nice leather jacket is a must have however, if you’re still not prepared for the cold take a look at the Dsquared Soft Biker Leather Jacket ($2,654). This leather jacket has a really interesting cut as well as pocket and zipper detail.

FRENCH VOGUE SHOOTS LARA STONE IN BLACKFACE

French Vogue has a reputation for controversy, and this month's issue is no exception. Steven Klein shot Dutch supermodel Lara Stone in blackface makeup for a spread styled by editrix Carine Roitfeld. The magazine praises Lara for the "radical break with the wave of anorexic models" she represents. Never mind that she is a size 4, and, rather than embrace her supposedly curvy figure, worries about being "the fat one." Never mind also that French Vogue shot other models who probably fall under their classification of "anorexic" for the issue, which is devoted to supermodels. The roster — including Kate Moss, Kristen McMenamy, Yasmin Le Bon, Eva Herzigova, Claudia Schiffer, Anna Selezneva, Diane Kruger, Constance Jabloski, and Eniko Mihalik — is entirely white. No black or Asian models made the cut. But they hired Lara — and her curves — in the spirit of inclusiveness, right?

fall: COMMES DES GARCONS SHIRT COLLECTION

We take a closer look at some new items from the Comme des Garcons SHIRT Fall/Winter 2009 Collection. The brand presents some new coats, shirts, as well as some new knitwear. We especially like the toggle coat and the patchwork shirt. The knitwear also looks very interesting. The goods are now available at Tres Bien.

runway: JOHN GALLIANO SS10 [PARIS]

John Galliano's spring 2010 show in Paris was staggeringly beautiful. Bubbles fell from the ceiling and popped into puffs of vapor. The runway was lit with red laser lights, creating a tunnel effect much like his also staggeringly beautiful fall 2009 show. This was Galliano's version of Sunset Boulevard (dialogue from the 1950 movie opened the show). "It came from a research trip to L.A.," Galliano told Style.com. "I went around the old houses of Hollywood and imagined how stars like Tallulah Bankhead, Lillian Gish, and Mary Pickford lived." Spring 2010's ubiquitous boudoir feel was present here, too, in sheer dresses and lace insets. The collection also included khaki jackets, beaded trenches, and skinny belted blazers.

A NEW TREND?

I guess it’s a new trend... It’s kind of old when you hang with Trend Setters. Peep Samantha from Fruition ... Fendi Bracelet & Gucci’ed up wrist.

stunt: PHARRELL x HERMES CROC HOODIE

Fashion can be expensive. High fashion can be super expensive. And custom high fashion can cripple a bank account.

If you're Pharrell Williams then money is no object, and you can blow your hard earned cash on a one-of-one (none before it, none to come) crocodile skin Hermés hoodie priced anywhere between $18,000-$75,000.

The Parisian fashion house, known for their ornate stylings and über expensive goods, has previously designed custom bags for Williams who as proven not to flinch when faced with plunking down a pretty penny. We just hope this Laffy Taffy purple jacket goes well with the paint PETA will undoubtedly splash him with when he makes his next public appearance in it.

runway: LOUIS VUITTON SS10 [PARIS]

According to WWD's Twitter page, "Grace Coddington whooped with delight at the first sight" of the Afros Marc Jacobs sent down the runway at Louis Vuitton's spring 2010 show yesterday in Paris. You'd think by now people would know not to be late to a Marc Jacobs show, but no. Guests were still milling about on the runway when the first model walked on; she had to push them aside to do her walk. "This is like ghetto fabulous!" Grazia exclaimed. Jacobs describes it as “Street clothes, embracing the hippie-cyber, tribal-punk world.” Aside from the Afros, models wore glittery anoraks, fringed shirts, satin corsets, and denim hot pants over lace-up leggings. None of the shoes were high. Rather, cowboy boots with feathers hanging off of them came with kitten heels, and moccasins were set on metal "peg" heels. But the handbags were truly special.

kicks: NEIL BARRETT FALL/WINTER 2009 SNEAKERS

Fashion designer Neil Barrett presents for Fall/Winter 2009 a solid line-up of sneakers. Both high top and low top sneakers make up the new collection. Here above you see one of the low top lace-up sneakers. Aside from the interesting dark metallic color choice and patent leather toe cap, the double lacing makes the sneaker unique, mixing regular eyelets with hiking boot inspired ones.

Take a look at the complete Neil Barrett Fall/Winter 2009 Footwear Collection here.

fall: COMME DES GARCONS SHIRT

Comme des Garçons shirt. CDG is one of those (read: armani, boss) with multi confusing diffusion labels. “shirt” is supposedly targeted at the younger audience, with lower priced points. The toggle coat is available online at farfetch.com and retails for £235, not bad at all.

runway: LYNDSEY SCOTT

Lyndsey Scott is taking Europe by storm. After starting her spring 2010 run in New York at Vera Wang, DKNY, and Monique Lhuillier, she continues to land on major runways in London, Milan, and Paris. The 18-year-old — who first made headlines last season by being the first black model to score a Calvin Klein exclusive — booked Pringle of Scotland, Jaeger London, and Topshop Uniquein London, and appeared at Gucci, Blumarine, and Alberta Ferretti in Milan. And she wowed audiences at Prada by being the only black model to walk that show. The New Jersey native is in Paris right now sealing the deal on her rising-star status, already strutting at Giambattista Valli and Costume National, and even closing the Loewe show.

cover: CHANEL IMAN AND JOURDAN DUNN USED TO FUED, SORT OF

Chanel Iman and Jourdan Dunn appear on the cover of Teen Vogue's November issue. They ooze love and good vibrations for one another. Nothing's better than two perfect-looking young women loving each other on the cover of a teen magazine! But their friendship saw a dark day. A dark, jealous, competitive day.

"I could sit here and tell you, 'I love Jourdan! We've always been the best of friends!'" she says. "But we haven't. Until recently, we barely even spoke. We went from being superclose in the beginning," she says, "to dead silence if we saw each other backstage at a show." Not even a hello? "If we did say hi, it was hi, and that's it."

For that bastion of friendship and warm fuzzies that is the fashion industry came between them, if you can imagine. Jourdan explains that black models are pitted against each other because there are so few jobs for them. Many labels are only looking for one black girl at castings. Jourdan says, "People will say things in Chanel's ear like, 'Jourdan is taking your spot,' and then they'll say to me, 'Don't trust Chanel.'"

The November issue of Teen Vogue hits news stands on October 13th, but until then, read the full interview and see the complete shoot here.

runway: JEAN PAUL GAULTIER'S BABY-BUMP PAD FOR JOURDAN DUNN

Jean Paul Gaultier dressed 19-year-old model Jourdan Dunn's baby bump in a brown padded dome for his spring 2010 show over the weekend in Paris. If we were Hollywood starlets, we'd wear one all the time: gain weight, hide it, and keep the tabloids guessing! And when you're not pregnant, you can just hide things in there. Like Goldfish and coconut water. Yes, this show was all aboutpracticality.

street chic: LOVE LOVE JASON FARRER

I applaud the uncompromised eye of visionary stylist JASON FARRER represented by Defacto (New York) and Artlist (Paris). His work continues to push the street aesthetic in such a modern and chic way. His Vogue Italia styled cover with Miss Rayder said it all "The New Street Chic." From Steven Miesel to Karim Sadli, there is this real , raw ,urban feel to the styling that is so distinctive to Farrer. Farrer's abilitiy to mold models into something , street, rough and sexual , to put it simply is genius. Farrer continues to work with underground talents, mixing their lines with fashion giants. Check out his work with Cassette Playa , Telfar and Hood By air.Pictured above JASON FARRER styled shoot for Dutch Magazine 'fur issue.' I love love.

who wore it better: HELMUT LANG LEATHER JACKET

With the price tag associated with its clothing, it’s safe to say that Helmut Lang is an expensive and classy brand. But with class, a look of sophistication is expected, which means when you’re rockin’ the brand you might want to leave the fitteds and Nike mids at home.

Not taking anything away from Chris Breezy. He might have been rushing to a court hearing (not community service) and had to throw on this look real quick (which explains why the jacket is unzipped). On the other hand, Ryan Leslie looks like he put more effort into his outfit. Still, we don’t usually co-sign R.Les’s steez, so this decision may be harder than you think. So we’ll let you tell it. Who wore it better?
